Prof. Chao Chen

Associate Professor and Principal Investigator, Department of Chemistry, Tsinghua University, China

The main research interests of Professor Chao Chen are hypervalent iodine chemistry and electrophilic cyclisation. He started his independent research as an associate professor at Tsinghua University in May 2011.

Prior to this, he completed his undergraduate studies at Tsinghua University’s Department of Chemistry. He continued his doctoral studies with Prof. Chanjuan Xi and Prof. Xiaoyin Hong, and obtained his PhD in 2006. He moved to the University of Münster to carry out his postdoctoral studies with Prof. Gerhard Erker from 2007 to 2011.

Prof. Chao Chen has received a Humboldt Research Fellowship (2006), an ACP Lectureship (Japan, 2013), a Young Chemist Award (Chinese Chemical Society, 2014), a Thieme Chemistry Journals Award (Thieme Medical Publishers, 2015) and the Yangtze Scholarship for Youth (2019).
