Palladium Global Science Award prize giving ceremony to be postponed

Published on 23 September 2025

After careful consideration, the organizing committee of the Palladium Global Science Award has taken the decision to postpone the prize giving ceremony in anticipation of the arrival of Typhoon Ragasa in the host city. The storm is forecast to be the world’s strongest this year, and would have significantly disrupted the event, which was set to be held on the evening of Wednesday, 24 September in Hong Kong.
The safety and security of attendees is the highest priority, and a decision was therefore taken to postpone the event despite the short notice. The ceremony is expected to draw attendees from all over the world, and transportation routes have been significantly affected. In addition to hazardous high winds and potentially life-threatening storm surges, Hong Kong International Airport is preparing to suspend all passenger flights for 36 hours – the longest ever suspension at the airport.

The Palladium Global Science Award expresses its concern for those affected by the storm. The organizing committee is working alongside the International Expert Council to confirm a new date for the event, and more information will be announced as soon as it becomes available.
