Palladium Minds is a brand new podcast from the Palladium Global Science Award. It was created in order to explore scientific developments and how they move from the laboratory to the market.
On 21st of November in Hong Kong, we celebrated a milestone as five exceptional scientists from around the world were recognised for their groundbreaking palladium innovations. The ceremony marked the successful conclusion of our first international competition, which attracted nearly 100 submissions from over 30 countries.
A quick intro to the new award celebrating excellence in palladium innovations around the world. The competition aims to showcase cutting-edge developments that enable more efficient, sustainable, and technologically advanced solutions for the economy of the future. The inaugural prizegiving ceremony was held in late 2025, and the Palladium Global Science Award is back for a second edition this year.
Palladium is an essential material in many practical applications, holding the key to a greener society and helping to secure the economy of the future. These applications include sustainable chemistry, clean water, power generation, and healthcare, representing core aspects of our daily lives all over the world.
Palladium is more than just a platinum group metal – it represents opportunities across a wide range of sectors from chemistry and engineering to healthcare. It has a unique ability to absorb hydrogen. In addition, palladium is known for its outstanding catalytic properties.
Forecasts suggest that palladium research will scale new heights in the next five to ten years – achieving real innovation requires close collaboration between researchers and industry, combing scientific expertise with practical implementation capabilities.
