Published on 2 April 2025
The MDX Research Center for Element Strategy (MDXES), Institute of Science Tokyo has been named as an official Partner of the Palladium Global Science Award in the inaugural year of the competition. Established in 2022, MDXES is part of the Institute of Integrated Research (IIR) at the Institute of Science Tokyo. Its core mission is to develop innovative electronic functional materials that can help to solve resource and environmental issues, deploying computational science and data science while focusing on abundant and environmentally friendly resources.
Precious metals are an important component of materials science in today’s technology-driven world, and establishing links between higher education, business, research institutes and official organisations is more important than ever. Collaboration between wide-ranging institutions from all over the world has the power to drive new innovations in palladium applications across metallurgy, chemical technologies, medicine and biotechnology, electronics and microelectronics, nanotechnology and green transition solutions.
The Palladium Global Science Award highlights cutting-edge research in palladium applications, covering applied concepts, scientific articles and new developments. Applications for participation in the inaugural competition are currently open to scientists, engineers and researchers, with submissions accepted until 31 July 2025. The award ceremony will take place at an event this summer, with a prize pool of $350,000 to be shared among five winners.
