Submissions close for the second Palladium Global Science Award

Applications for the 2026 edition of the Palladium Global Science Award have now closed. The International Expert Council is delighted to announce that 150 novel palladium applications have been put forward across the Best Scientific Development, Best Scientific Article and Best Applied Concept nominations. The figures are significantly up on the previous year, when the winning entries covered a number of key industries from organic chemistry and drug discovery to green methanol production and water purification.
Submissions came from scientists at world-renowned research institutes, leading startups and other prestigious organizations, demonstrating palladium’s increased relevance in the global economy and the scientific world. This year, Asia led the pack with an impressive 45.6% of total submissions, followed by Europe with 16.3%, while North America provided 13.8% and Africa 11.3%. Rounding out the submissions, 4.4% came from South America, and 2.5% of applicants were based in Australia.
The jury will now evaluate the works submitted for the award, with a particular focus on novelty, scientific and technological feasibility, market potential, level of readiness, and overall quality. The launch of the PGSA Accelerator also gives participants – including those who are not named among the prize winners – the opportunity to receive support in building towards commercial viability, as well as promoting their scientific research via the official channels of the Palladium Global Science Award and industry events.
The winners will be announced in September following the meeting of the International Expert Council. The $350,000 prize fund will be split among five winners across the three nominations. The Award Ceremony will take place at the Conrad Seoul hotel in South Korea on 19 November 2026, as part of the inaugural Palladium Future Forum. The Forum will be held under the theme of Strategic Materials and Future Technologies: Palladium in the Global Innovation Landscape.
